Born roadside on the festival circuit in 2004, Linda and Allen Hammond founded Quay Australia, the notoriously cool sunglass brand for the nonconforming and freethinking. Launching in the international market in 2009, Quay was joined by son Zak at the age of 17, making Quay a true family business. Today, Quay’s sunnies can be found in 35 countries at over 2000 retailers worldwide and online. With its signature oversized frames, playful yet infinitely edgy range of designs and affordable pricepoint, Quay allows for the necessary sunglass wardrobe styling – aka ensuing every outfit is styled with the perfect pair of sunnies. With music inspired roots, countless adventures abroad and some Melbourne flair, Quay Australia has become a favorite for individuals with fearless style, a carefree attitude and fresh perspective.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)
Quay Australia holds itself to the highest CSR standards of integrity, maintaining a strong stance on working conditions of our manufacturers’ workers. Every manufacturer we work with is required to comply with fundamental human rights, including:
- No child labor
- No excessive working hours
- No workers held at their will
- No use of machinery without safety protection
- No working in unclean conditions
- No payment below minimum wage
We ensure that all machines have been cleared to work and are safe for the workers to use when machinery is used to produce our sunnies. Our sunglass materials contain no harsh chemicals that can cause any health problems for the workers, nor consumers. To ensure all of Quay’s regulations are maintained, we employ a representative to audit and oversee all factory conditions and working conditions for the workers. If a manufacturer does not uphold our standards, we immediately terminate our contract.
